Roma midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi discussed the team’s performance in their 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16.

After the match, Baldanzi spoke to Sky Sport.

“It was difficult against a strong opponent,” he said. “The win was important. We could have scored more goals, including me; we take this victory, the return match will be difficult but we want to do well.”

“I think that as always those who came in in the second half did very well, they changed the game. We scored at the end and we needed it, because we wasted a lot of chances. Now we want to go through.”

“I always try to improve myself, even in the defensive phase, maybe to coexist with a champion like Dybala. I think I did well; I did what the coach asked of me.”
