Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly monitoring Strasbourg’s rising star Dilane Bakwa, with competition from Chelsea, Newcastle United, and West Ham United intensifying ahead of the summer transfer window. As reported by Caught Offside, the 22-year-old winger has emerged as a target for several Premier League sides, thanks to his impressive performances in Ligue 1 this season.
Bakwa’s current season has been one of genuine progress, recording 11 goal contributions (goals and assists combined). His creative spark and directness in attack have not gone unnoticed, with scouts from top English clubs now viewing him as a viable summer addition.
“He will help create chances for his teammates and find the back of the net as well,” the original report noted. With his agility, pace and technical finesse, Bakwa is shaping up as a player ready for the physical and tactical demands of Premier League football.

Chelsea appear to be in pole position thanks to their ownership link with Strasbourg through BlueCo. The original report from Caught Offside explains, “Strasbourg are owned by BlueCo and they might prefer to sell to a club owned by the same company.” This connection gives Chelsea a logistical advantage, although nothing is sealed yet.
With Mykhailo Mudryk struggling to find consistent form and uncertainty lingering around the possible permanent signing of Jadon Sancho, Chelsea are clearly in need of reliable wide options. “Chelsea could use more quality on the flanks,” the report suggests—and Bakwa could represent both quality and long-term value.
For Tottenham, Bakwa could fit neatly into their tactical system under Ange Postecoglou. His arrival would potentially coincide with the end of Timo Werner’s loan spell, and offer another attacking dimension alongside Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.
“They need more quality and depth on the flanks. The 22-year-old could be a replacement for Timo Werner,” says the report, underlining a potential gap Bakwa could fill in the squad. Spurs have been linked with several young, dynamic players recently—indicating a clear recruitment strategy focused on high-upside, versatile attackers.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, are said to be in the mix, with the report noting that “Newcastle have been overly dependent on Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak.” Bakwa’s inclusion in their attacking line could ease some of that burden and provide greater tactical fluidity.
West Ham, too, are reportedly keeping close tabs, although it’s unclear whether they can match the financial and sporting incentives offered by their top-six rivals.
With competition heating up and scouts already impressed, Bakwa’s name is one to watch closely in the coming months. His preference is reportedly to join a club capable of challenging for silverware, suggesting Tottenham and Chelsea might be likelier destinations than others.
From a Spurs fan’s perspective, the potential signing of Dilane Bakwa is an exciting one. Not just because of his stats—which speak for themselves—but because of the profile he fits. Young, hungry, technically adept, and with something to prove in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. That’s the sort of player Postecoglou can mould into a Premier League star.
Werner’s likely departure means Spurs will need options out wide, and Bakwa isn’t just a filler. He’s a genuine asset who brings balance and directness. His playstyle—cutting inside, driving at defenders, linking up in tight spaces—would complement Son and Kulusevski beautifully. And with James Maddison supplying the through balls, he’d have no shortage of service.
That said, Chelsea’s BlueCo connection can’t be ignored. If it comes down to who Strasbourg are more comfortable doing business with, Spurs could find themselves edged out. But if Bakwa is prioritising development and regular minutes—something Tottenham are in a better position to guarantee—then N17 might just be the smarter step for his career.
Let’s hope the club move quickly and decisively. We’ve been stung before in the market. Bakwa is exactly the sort of signing we need: someone to develop, excite the fans, and raise the level of our attacking play.
