Virgil van Dijk has said Liverpool ‘take a point and move on’ after twice coming from behind to draw 2-2 at Arsenal.

Liverpool missed the chance to move back to the top of the Premier League after an entertaining draw at the Emirates, with the Reds forced to come from behind in North London.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for Arsenal after nine minutes with an emphatic finish, nutmegging Andy Robertson before lashing a finish high past Caoimhin Kelleher.

Virgil van Dijk levelled for Liverpool minutes later when the Dutchman bundled in from Luis Diaz’s flick on at a set piece. However, Arsenal were back in the ascendancy before the break as Mikel Merino headed home his first goal for the Gunners.

Liverpool improved after the break and found a deserved leveller nine minutes from time. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pass released Darwin Nunez in behind and the Uruguayan squared for Mohamed Salah to slam home and earn the visitors a point.

The draw leaves Liverpool second, a point behind Manchester City, but Van Dijk said the Merseysiders return back from the capital content with a well-earned point.

“Listen, it’s a very tough place to come. They created a solid team and make it difficult for everyone. To come back twice is a good thing, we take the point and we move,” Van Dijk said, speaking to Sky Sports:

On set-piece goals: “They’re very solid in set pieces and I think when I was marked by Partey, he only looked at me. It was a good flick from Lucho. I try to just be important in every set piece that we have and to not concede like we did so that’s very disappointing.

“You play here in London, they have the fans behind them and they created some momentum. You have to be ready to fight because you will have some tough moments. One point and we take it.”
