Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy spoke to the media about transfers following a drubbing suffered at the hands of fellow (or now previous) relegation-favourites Everton. While the Toffees enjoy revitalisation under David Moyes, the Foxes are in trouble. Yes, LCFC won at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yet most teams could do that at the moment. The Spurs victory, important as it was, appears to have been the exception which proved the rule that City aren't up to Premier League standards this season.

Obviously the entire world and their dogs know Leicester need new recruits. Well, everyone except the King Power hierarchy who are in control on Filbert Way. Around a month ago, an initially buoyant van Nistelrooy believed he would receive the additions necessary to bolster his roster. The Dutchman even took the slightly uncharacteristic step of informing journalists, and therefore supporters, that funds were readily available. But these desperately required signings never arrived. Only full back Woyo Coulibaly, who would do well to save the season on his own, was signed in January.

At the time of writing, we already land on February 2. This means there is only one more day for the east Midlands team's ownership and director of football to give Foxes recruitment the go ahead and supply appropriate funding. Though it seems like I, and much of the LCFC faithful, are wistfully dreaming here. This side may be doomed to return to the Championship with a whimper. And, unfortunately, without suitable support and investment from the board. Oh dear. The Manchester United legend has actually confirmed an imminent transfer at City. But, alas, the update is probably not what you hoped for.
