Miron Muslic has provided a Plymouth Argyle transfer update

Plymouth Argyle boss Miron Muslic has revealed that the club could witness some new arrivals to their playing squad on Thursday night, ahead of Saturday afternoon's clash with West Bromwich Albion.

The Pilgrims currently sit bottom of the Championship table and seven points adrift of safety, despite last weekend's 2-2 draw at Sunderland, who are just three points behind the automatic promotion spots.

While Nathanael Ogbeta's late equaliser secured an unlikely point on the road for Muslic's men, they are still yet to win a league game since an early November triumph over Portsmouth, which marked the last victory of former boss Wayne Rooney's tenure.

Argyle's fight for second tier survival also became much more difficult when former star man Morgan Whittaker recently joined play-off chasers Middlesbrough.

Earlier in the transfer window, the Devon club acquired the signings of Michael Baidoo and Tymoteusz Puchacz from Swedish side Elfsborg and German outfit Holstein Kiel respectively.

However, amid the Pilgrims' increasingly desperate scramble against relegation, and in the wake of Whittaker's exit, supporters will be keen to see new faces arriving at Home Park ahead of deadline day on Monday.

When asked for an update on signings during Thursday afternoon's press conference, the Argyle boss said: "We are very close.

"Some rumours are outside already.

"The plan is to have some players arriving tonight (Thursday).

"Hopefully, everything will be done so we can have them in the session tomorrow (Friday).

"The window is still open for a couple of days.

"Very soon we can present some names.

"I'm not frustrated.

"I want to sign the right players, and be sure they are right, that they have the heart to face this.

"It takes time, rather than just signing names, to be satisfied."

Plymouth supporters will hope to see defensive reinforcement arriving soon

As alluded to by Pilgrims boss Muslic, much of the club's transfer business is already in the public eye, while on Monday, Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas revealed that the Devon side were closing in on the signature of centre-back Maksym Talovierov, who currently plies his trade for Austrian club LASK, and the Ukraine national team.

The Home Park faithful will be hoping to witness the 24-year-old's arrival prior to Saturday's meeting with West Brom, due to the fact that Argyle boast by far the worst defensive record in the Championship, having conceded 62 goals in the league this term, whereas the Baggies' attack will be full of confidence after they demolished Portsmouth 5-1 last Saturday.
