Paris Saint-Germain traveled to VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday, needing a draw or a win to secure placement in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. For Luis Enrique’s side, the match couldn’t have started any better.
In the sixth minute, PSG set up for a corner kick. Typically, PSG struggles on set pieces but against Stuttgart, they finally put it all together. Ousmane Dembélé took the corner and played a short pass to Désiré Doué. The former Stade Rennais star flicked the ball toward goal without looking and the ball fell right to Bradley Barcola for the easy header.
The goal will go a long way to calm nerves amongst PSG supporters who want to see the club continue its march in the Champions League. The club has still never won the competition but with a young, talented squad, Luis Enrique may be able to lead the club deep in the tournament.
Barcola has been one of PSG’s best players this season and now has two goals and one assist in the Champions League.
