Jadon Sancho put in another poor performance for Chelsea yesterday against Brentford deepening the sense that the club would be making a mistake by activating the clause to buy him from Manchester United.
As it stands, with each passing week he’s playing his way out of the affections of fans, and potentially out of the club’s plans.
Fabrizio Romano had an update on the winger in his latest video, explaining that even if he were to not stay at Chelsea, there’s no way he’s going back to Man U:
“Something on Jadon Sancho: I told you in recent weeks that Chelsea have an obligation to buy, a £25m package for Jadon Sancho. An obligation to buy, but with a clause worth £5m to send the player back to Manchester United, in case they decided not to activate the option, to send Sancho back and trust him on a permanent deal,” Romano reminded us.
“He still hopes to stay at Chelsea, to continue at Chelsea. In case Chelsea decide to send him back to Man U, the current expectation is not for Sancho and Man U to continue together… it would take something crazy.”

From a Chelsea point of view, Romano revealed when the club planned to make a decision on whether to pay to buy the winger or to pay to not buy him:
“Chelsea will not decide now, so forget about these days. End of the season, when they know what they will do next season, Champions League or not, the impact of Sancho in the final games is also going to be important.”
Given Sancho’s form is tailing off, it may be that these final few weeks have just as much chance of persuading the sporting directors to not buy him.
