West Ham United played out a 1-1 draw at Everton on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Hammers had a brilliant opportunity to secure a victory after Tomas Soucek broke the deadlock on 67 minutes by curling a delightful finish into the far corner.
However, West Ham couldn’t hold on for maximum points as Jake O’Brien popped up with a stoppage-time equaliser to salvage a draw.
Graham Potter’s side entered the away contest on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle United last Monday.
A victory at Goodison Park would have been a perfect response, but a point against a rejuvenated David Moyes’ team isn’t very bad either.
Soucek opened the scoring for West Ham, but his overall display wasn’t convincing. The 30-year-old lost possession of the ball 13 times and had just 69% passing accuracy.
Jarrod Bowen was the best player for the Irons yesterday as he set up Soucek and was a constant threat. However, Jean-Clair Todibo also produced a sensational display at Goodison.
The 25-year-old was excellent in defence and also had a half decent opportunity to put his side in front in the first half.
Todibo, who has been described as an “elite” player, had 77 touches and completed 44 of his 58 passes (76% accuracy). He won 75% of his ground/aerial duels and completed 50% of his dribbles.
The France international lost possession on 16 occasions, but he registered five interceptions, four tackles and two clearances.
Todibo joined West Ham in the summer on loan from Nice. Since his arrival at the London Stadium, he has featured in 21 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers.
