What are the chances of every French side making the Champions League knockout phase? | OneFootball

It has been another strong week for Ligue 1 sides in the UEFA Champions League. It began with a bang as AS Monaco thumped Crvena Zvezda 5-1 and ended with a huge statement made by Lille OSC, who came from behind to defeat Atlético Madrid 3-1.

Between those results, we saw a disappointing 1-1 draw between Paris Saint-Germain and PSV Eindhoven and it was the same score between Stade Brestois and Bayer Leverkusen as Éric Roy’s side remained unbeaten in this competition.

As things stand, all French sides are positioned to make the knockout portion of this tournament, with Monaco and Brest currently in line to qualify directly into the round of 16, sitting fourth and fifth in the table, respectively.

To make it into the next round, you have to finish in the top 24, while the top eight teams, based on points, go straight into the last 16.

The lowest-seeded French side in the competition is PSG, with four points, but according to Opta, there’s an excellent chance we’ll see the other three Ligue 1 teams still alive after the League phase concludes.

According to the data they collected, PSG have an 83% chance of making the knockout phase, Brest a 87% chance, Lille a 91% chance, and Monaco a 95% chance.

Five matchdays remain before all of that is decided, but even PSG, who are just a point above the line to make the knockout phase, would need six teams to overtake them.
