The King Power Club will see departures in the summer. The exact quantity and quality of those exiting will likely be determined by the result of the Foxes Premier League campaign, which currently sees them in the relegation zone.
Should Ruud van Nistelrooy survive this season and into the next couple, then the Dutchman will have an immense pull to bring in exciting talent, promote youngsters, and clear out older players signed under previous managers with little hope of progressing the team. That is the goal of a few of their rumoured targets.
Manor Solomon is an interesting link. The Israeli left-winger currently plays for Leeds United on loan, so is clearly one of those players that rests between Championship and Premier League football. I would expect the player to be only interested in a Premier League side next campaign, but maybe Nistelrooy can attract some better quality players to the King Power.
In terms of his attributes, Solomon is 5ft 7in tall and possesses incredible pace and acceleration. Although not physically imposing, the Israeli is certainly capable of beating opposing defenders, rushing past them, and penetrating defensive blocks as a result, or retaining progression through sheer speed.
The Foxes have mainly been linked to forwards on the right side and centre, so Solomon makes a welcome difference as a left-winger. With seven goals, seven assists, and little in terms of defensive contributions after 27 games played in the Championship with Leeds United, the stylistic preference for being a terroriser upfront and goal-threat is obvious.
However, to offer a little more information on his stylistic preference, we can also illustrate their potency as a playmaker. Being in the top percentiles (90th or over) for players in terms of progressive carrying, passes received, successful take-ons, non-penalty xG & xA, and has accumulated over 90 shot-creating actions.
This means that should Leicester choose to splash some cash, Solomon is an exceptional talent in creating a passing opportunity on the counterattack, receiving the ball well, rushing forward, and beating opposing defenders. A player who dribbles with the ball and creates a gluttony of chances.
As a downside, unlike Abdul Fatawu on the right, the Israeli left-winger is absent defensively. They seldom track back after losing possession and typically does not apply a great deal of pressure to opposing players on the ball. That likely allows possession to be ceded to the opposition in the event Solomon either gives the ball away or fails to hold onto it due to his lack of physical strength. This is perhaps the biggest weakness of the 25-year-old Leeds loanee.
As well as this, the King Power side are already dealing with having too many players that drift in and out of relevance within fixtures. If Solomon is closed down or not getting the service he requires, the player rarely makes an attempt to create his own space off the ball or get involved deeper. On the ball, the Foxes' target is lethal. Off? Lethargic.
Any team which wants to sign Manor Solomon needs to ensure the 25-year-old winger has the right support structure around him to provide a functional foundation and core from which to set the tempo, keep him involved in the game, and take advantage of his pace on the counterattack with a swift yet accurate pass. For the Foxes that means Harry Winks and Bilal El Khannouss need to play in midfield to find the player with their passes.
As well as this, Nistelrooy's team would need to use his carrying strength by altering their setup on the break. Solomon would not track back or be useful in a defensive situation such as a corner or freekick, so he should instead be the reliably placed target to break the opponents' press should possession be won in Leicester's half. A long direct pass unleashes the pacy forward to attack the defence and create chances for an equally explosive set of forwards: Fatawu and Jamie Vardy (for now).
Additionally, the extra goals and clinical assists would greatly assist either a relegation battle or a promotion contention. The Israeli may not be prolific, but the player is certainly superior to the options the Dutuchman currently has on the wings.
Leicester City are not the only club interested in signing the Leeds United loanee star. Leeds wish to permanently sign the winger, while Everton - who look very comfortable in the Premier League - are credited as having an interest too. Any move for the player would need to be swift.
Would you like to see Ruud van Nistelrooy stay for the transfer window and get some of these rumoured targets over the line? Let Foxes of Leicester know through our social media channels on X and Facebook, and be sure to let us know which player excites you the most. For me, Manor Solomon would be a very exciting addition to play alongside a new striker and Fatawu.
