Share of the spoils

Scorers: Munetsi 40'; Harrison 33'

Wolves and Everton played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with both sides pleased with a point apiece.

This was a battle at the bottom with Wolves aiming to make the most of Ipswich's defeat at Palace earlier by going eight points clear of the drop with a win.

But it was all Everton early on as Abdoulaye Doucouré danced inside the area but saw his shot saved well from close range.

David Moyes' side eventually took the lead on 33 minutes as Jack Harrison found space inside the area and saw his effort deflect into the far corner.

Just before the break though, Wolves equalised as Marshall Munetsi ghosted into the area and prodded home.

After the break Wolves almost took the lead but Pablo Sarabia's free kick from the edge of the area just skimmed the outside of the post.

The game really opened up late on and Beto had a gilt-edged chance to give the Toffees a lead. His effort however, was saved brilliant by Jose Sa down low to his left-hand side.

Old boy strikes

Scorers: Watkins 49'

Ollie Watkins struck against his former club to hand Aston Villa a 1-0 win over Brentford.

Despite coming into this clash in 10th place, Villa travelled to Brentford knowing that three points could take them up to seventh and in sight of the Champions League places.

Brentford had the first real chance of the game with Emi Martinez making two excellent saves as the Nike Tiempo pinballed around the Villa area.

The visitors went close themselves soon after as Youri Tielemans effort was saved well inside the area.

Into the second half and against his old club Ollie Watkins fired Villa into a lead after only four minutes.

The midlands side thought they had doubled their advantage just two minutes later but Morgan Rogers effort was ruled out for offside by VAR.

Brentford almost equalised with 20 minutes remaining but Lewis-Potter's strike clattered back off the post.

As the Bees pushed for an equaliser, Watkins broke to grab his second but the England international fluffed his chance inside the area.

Sweet 16 for Liverpool

Scorers: Núñez 52', Salah (PEN) 54', (PEN) 88'; Smallbone 45+1'

Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to 16 points with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over bottom side Southampton on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.

Frustrated for much of the first half, things took a shock turn for the home side on the stroke of half-time when a disastrous defensive mix-up from Virgil van Dijk and Alisson was pounced upon by Will Smallbone to score.

It took just six minutes after half-time before Darwin Núñez took matters into his own hands to turn the game on its head.

The Uruguayan firstly equalised from close range with a cool finish after good work down the left from Luis Díaz before winning a penalty moments later, which Mohamed Salah converted.

After a late VAR check, the Reds were awarded a second spot kick of the game and once more, Salah kept his cool to equal the record of most goal involvements in a 38 game Premier League season - taking that tally to 44, level with Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland.

Liverpool are now 16 clear of Arsenal who face Manchester United on Sunday and are an incredible 61 ahead of the Saints, who are 13 adrift of safety.

Brighton win it at the death

Scorers: Van Hecke 41', Pedro (PEN) 90+8'; Jiménez 35'

A dramatic penalty eight minutes into injury-time handed Brighton a huge 2-1 win over fellow European football chasers Fulham at the AMEX.

Fulham took the lead with 35 minutes on the clock when Raúl Jiménez did brilliantly to take a high Alex Iwobi cross down with his chest and drilled in at the near post on his left foot.

However, that lead lasted just five minutes before Jean Paul van Hecke pulled Brighton level with a towering header that he steered home with the help of the far post.

Kaoru Mitoma thought he had completed the turnaround shortly after half-time but the offside flag denied him and had another disallowed in the final moments as they looked set for a point - only to be awarded a 96th minute penalty when João Pedro was brought down in the area.

From the spot, the Brazilian dusted himself down to score and deliver a huge three points which moves the Seagulls into the top six.

Sarr sinks Ipswich

Scorers: Sarr 82'

Crystal Palace needed a late goal from Ismaïla Sarr to see a stubborn Ipswich side off 1-0.

Only an outstanding last ditch block from Jacob Greaves denied Crystal Palace the opener after 20 minutes at Selhurst Park as he did brilliantly to deny Eberechi Eze's goalbound attempt.

It was the Palace star who came closest to scoring in the second half too, firstly having a deflected strike hit the post before another excellent block denied him until the breakthrough finally arrived with eight minutes left.

The decisive strike came via Sarr who chipped home beautifully after the ball kindly broke his way in the area after Daichi Kamada attempted to force his way through as Palace close the gap on the top half with the win, while the Tractor Boys remain five points off 17th place.

Forest leave it late against City

Scorers: Hudson-Odoi 83'

A late winner from Callum Hudson-Odoi saw Nottingham Forest strengthen their grip on third place at the expense of Manchester City with a 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon.

Erling Haaland went closest in the early exchanges with an effort dragged just wide before Nico González blasted off the post from range to keep things scoreless at the interval.

In the second half, Forest came closest to finding a way through only for Ederson to pull off an incredible save to tip a Hudson-Odoi strike onto the upright.

But the winger would not be denied for long and after Ederson did so well to deny him previously, could have done better with seven minutes remaining when Hudson-Odoi squeezed past him at the front post after tearing through on the right.

That goal sees the hosts move four points clear of Pep Guardiola's side, who remain fourth but could be overtaken by Chelsea on Sunday.
