100% pass completion & an assist: Barcelona star’s impressive stats off the bench vs Girona | OneFootball

The impressive statistics behind the substitute performance conjured up by Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong on Sunday evening have come to the fore online.

Barcelona were of course back in action a short time ago.

Taking to the pitch for the 2nd time in less than 72 hours, the Blaugrana welcomed Catalan rivals Girona to Montjuïc, for a La Liga clash.

When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops made short work of their neighbours, to the tune of a 4-1 triumph.

And whilst it was brace-hitter Robert Lewandowski who took the majority of the headlines post-match, teammate Frenkie de Jong’s impact off the bench should not be overlooked.

De Jong was for his part introduced to the fray with the scoreline at 2-1, and the result far from secure for Barcelona.

The Dutchman, though, introduced a new element to the hosts’ midfield, with one of his trademark drives forward having culminated in an assist for Lewandowski’s 2nd of the clash.

On top of as much, De Jong also completed 100% of his passes, two of which came in the form of key passes.

He also completed two of his three dribble attempts, and emerged victorious from four of five ground duels.

A performance which will perhaps go overlooked, but another altogether impressive one in what has been a stellar recent resurgence on De Jong’s part.
