FC Barcelona emerged victorious in their titanic clash with Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final last night, as they beat the Merengues with a 3-2 scoreline.
The two teams took the game to extra time, as the scoreline stood at 2-2 by the end of normal time, as Los Blancos improved their performance in the second half. The Catalans were clearly the better team in the first half and were rewarded for their efforts in the form of a goal.
This goal was scored by the Spanish midfielder Pedri, who remains simply unstoppable for the Blaugrana side. In addition to this goal, Mundo Deportivo notes how he was crucial for his team in other aspects of the game as well.
The midfielder played 98 minutes in this game and generated 3 chances, the second-highest in the game, only behind Raphinha’s 5. Furthermore, he was the player who completed the most passes in the final third (29), ahead of other players like Lamine Yamal (18), Jules Kounde (18), and Frenkie de Jong (18).
In total, the Canarian got on the ball 108 times, showcasing the high degree of involvement he had in the game. This number was only behind Inigo Martinez, who got 115 touches on the ball, and significantly above the most active Merengue player on the ball, Federico Valverde, who got 77 touches.
Pedri completed 75 passes in this match, and thus was behind only Inigo Martinez (80) and Pau Cubarsi (77). His passing accuracy rate stood at 86.2%, which is quite impressive, keeping in view some of the high-risk balls he attempted throughout the game.

The Canary Islander’s defensive improvements were once again showcased in this game as he made 8 ball recoveries in this match. While not too out of the ordinary, this figure is still quite impressive for a player as creative as Pedri.
By the first half of extra time, the Spaniard was completely exhausted and had to make way for Eric Garcia. Thus, he was not on the pitch when Kounde scored the winning goal, but his contributions still turned out to be vital for his side.
