5 Leicester players' contracts are expiring - and two are crucial

As we approach summer 2025 in the midst of similar uncertainty to 2023, bosses at King Power Stadium must consider the squad more carefully. Which stars and up-and-coming players they wish to keep is an essential factor of course. Naturally, knowing who in the roster to disregard or discard is also an awkward but necessary aspect of running a successful football team. Something the King Power group were once good at but seem to get all wrong these days!
With the end of the current season approaching, contracts are a pressing matter at hand as well. Owners and recruitment officials must decide which assets are worth reinvesting in. There are those ballers you simply cannot allow your rivals to steal either! Elsewhere, especially with the side requiring a severe rebuild, it is actually handy to rid yourself of some unneeded personnel. And let me tell you - Leicester have a lot of them!
At this stage next year in 2026, the Leicester powers that be might well be worrying that they could lose these nine Foxes: Conor Coady, Jordan Ayew, Ricardo Pereira, Boubakary Soumare, Patson Daka, Luke Thomas, James Justin, Jakub Stolarczyk and Harry Winks. Obviously some of them may be sold or loaned between now and then. And a few will probably receive new deals.
Although, if you ask me, only a handful of those footballers are worth keeping anyway - even in the Championship! Daka, for example, has been a pretty calamitous acquisition. Thomas, Coady and Ayew are all dispensable in my opinion. Retaining people such as Ricardo, Soumare, and certainly Stolarczyk, is arguably vital.
The quintet of players whose agreement run out in a couple of months are as follows: Facundo Buonanotte (loan), Jamie Vardy, Danny Ward, Daniel Iversen and Odsonne Edouard. I just can't part with Vardy yet. And I'd absolutely love for City to buy Buonanotte. The less said about the other three, the better.
