Manchester United chiefs are doing their utmost to pip their noses in front of their competitors in pursuit of numerous attacking targets.
The likes of Xavi Simons, Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres have all been linked with Old Trafford moves in recent weeks, though there are yet to be any firm updates divulging United’s approach.
Of course, things are considerably easier when no transfer fee is involved, which is the case for longstanding target Jonathan David.
The Canadian international is now seeing out the final three months of his Lille contract before he becomes a free agent at the end of June. Given that he’s such a prolific goalscorer, with 144 career goals to his name at only 25 years old, it’ll come as no surprise to learn that the Reds, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all said to be sizing up a deal.

In line with that, United are among their two English rivals currently engaging in ‘active and concrete negotiations’, according to Le10 Sport. David has yet to make a decision on his future after spending the last five years with Lille, but the report does suggest his ‘heart is clearly leaning’ towards England’s top-flight.
He recently touched on the prospect of plying his trade in the Premier League, assuring his suitors that while he expects the demands of the division to differ greatly from what he’s used to in France, he’s more than capable of adapting.
“To be honest, I think I can adapt to every league,” the attacker admitted while speaking with The Overlap US. “Every league has their differences. I think the Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than all the other leagues.”
