Agent Beppe Riso has given some background on the transfer saga between Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi and Roma last month.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews. he also noted that Premier League and La Liga clubs had also shown an interest.

Last month, a long transfer saga dragged on concerning Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi.

Reportedly, the Italian international wanted to leave Inter. This was due to a lack of playing time.

And by far the team most strongly linked with the 25-year-old’s signature were Roma.

The Giallorossi did certainly show an interest in signing Frattesi. However, they were unable to agree a deal with Inter.

Reportedly, Inter held out for a very high fee, as they did not want to lose Frattesi in January. And Roma could not convince them with a player-plus-cash bid including Bryan Cristante.

Therefore, Frattesi remained a Nerazzurri player. He will be until at least the end of this season.

Agent Riso admits that the notion of Frattesi joining Roma in January was “my idea.”

“Or, if you prefer, it was something I tried to force.”

“Davide seemed unhappy to me,” the agent said. “Because he expected to play more.”

“And I was sorry to see that,” Riso continued. “So I set out looking for possible other clubs for him, and not just in Italy.”

“When it comes to Frattesi it’s to be expected that the idea of doing to Roma would be considered,” said the midfielder’s agent. Frattesi was born in Rome and a boyhood Giallorossi fan.

“But there were also big teams in La Liga and particularly the Premier League who came forward.”

“If the deal had been done, I would have tried to get Cristante to Inter,” said Riso.

“But everything ended because of what Davide wanted. He cared about staying at the Nerazzurri and fighting for every trophy.”

“They’re one of the strongest teams in Europe,” said Riso. “And he can still win a lot of trophies in Milan.”
