FC Barcelona continues its proud tradition of calling itself home to some of the world’s best footballers. Over the years, that has been a trademark of the Catalan club and it has brought them a lot of success and attention. However, having the biggest stars has not always worked out for Barcelona either.

Overspending on players who, despite being considered world-class at a certain point in time, were simply not the right type of players to play for La Blaugrana. Fortunately, the tides seemed to have shifted in their favor now as the next generation looks to be a perfect fit for Barcelona.

Most of the names that stand out the most include youngsters that the club has developed itself. Consequently, these players understand what it means to not just play for Barcelona but also how to play for the Catalan club as per its own teachings and philosophy.

However, if there is one player who stands out despite his tender age, everyone knows by now who it is. Even Spain’s captain Alvaro Morata, as highlighted by Barça Times, believes that the best player in the world currently is that very same youngster as well:

“Lamine Yamal.”

For Morata to say this is huge praise in itself, but the context of the statement makes it even more fascinating in a way. Now aged 31 himself, the Spanish forward is a player who has played across some of Europe’s biggest clubs including the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and even AC Milan.

As such, it is easy to see why Morata would be a player with extensive knowledge and understanding of the other big names across the footballing world. Yet, having seen Yamal up and close while the 17-year-old Barcelona sensation helped the country get to the European Championship itself, it seems that he knows what he is talking about.
