Amorim hints at resting ‘complete’ Man Utd teenager for Leicester clash, he impressed against Real Sociedad | OneFootball

Manchester United starlet Ayden Heaven made his full debut for the club in a commanding 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Manager Ruben Amorim chose Heaven over Victor Lindelof, with the latter having to settle for a place on the bench.

With injuries to Lisando Martinez, Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire, Amorim opted for Heaven to start in the left centre-back spot. He praised his performance.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “If he continues like that, he is going to play.

“Of course, he is young, and he didn’t play much this season – maybe only 45 minutes for the Under-21s, then a few minutes here and now a full game.

“I really like his confidence. I like his pace – I think he is good in defending the box and I think he is quite complete.

“But he has a lot of work to do in the Premier League.

“We will face a different kind of player, and he will be tested in a different kind of way, so we are trying to manage all of this because he is still really young.”

Heaven looks to be a terrific signing for United

United signed Heaven in the winter transfer window for a modest fee of around £1.5 million – a bargain for a player of his potential.

This marked the second time the Red Devils had snapped up an Arsenal academy talent in the past year, with Chido Obi being the first to make the switch.

He won all of his duels and played four passes in the final third.

Despite having only three appearances for United under his belt, the teenager already looks at home in the senior set-up.

However, Amorim may opt to rest him for Sunday’s clash against Leicester City, potentially bringing Lindelof back into the starting XI.

The manager’s comments hinted at giving Heaven a breather, mindful of the need to manage the youngster’s development carefully.
