Wolfsburg striker Mohamed Amoura is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Nottingham Forest, according to a report from L’Équipe. The Algerian international joined the Bundesliga side this summer on a loan-to-buy deal worth €14 million after a standout season at Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, where he made his breakthrough on the European stage. The obligatory buy clause in his deal will be activated if Wolfsburg avoids relegation this season.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to life in the Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists in 24 games for Wolfsburg this season. In the 2023-24 campaign, Amoura netted 21 goals in 45 matches during his only season in the Belgian Pro League.
At the international level, Amoura has already scored 13 goals in 32 appearances for Algeria. During the last international break, he netted a brace against Botswana before scoring a hat-trick against Mozambique in the CAF World Cup qualifiers.
Reports suggest that any club interested in signing the striker will have to pay Wolfsburg around €35 to €40 million. All three Premier League clubs monitoring him are in need of a striker for next season. Among them, league leaders Liverpool are expected to look for a replacement for Darwin Núñez. The Uruguayan forward has struggled to impress since joining in 2022 and is reportedly not favored by new manager Arne Slot. The 25-year-old was close to moving to Saudi Arabia in the January transfer window."
Arsenal currently rely on Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as their striking options, but both have struggled in front of goal this season. With the duo sidelined by injuries until the end of the campaign, the Gunners are expected to prioritize signing a new striker for next season and have been linked with multiple options.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest has leaned heavily on New Zealand international Chris Wood for goals. With Champions League qualification now a realistic possibility, they need reinforcements to share the workload with the 33-year-old, making them another club in the market for a striker.
Mohamed Amoura fits all the criteria for a Premier League striker. If not an immediate starter, he could serve as an understudy before taking on a more prominent role. It is no surprise that three of the top Premier League clubs this season have their eyes on the Algerian forward.
