Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid to coach the Brazil national team according to latest reports.
The Italian has been frequently linked with the Brazil post in recent months and according to journalist Mario Cortegana of The Athletic the coach has now made his decision.
Despite success with Real Madrid, particularly in Europe, since his return to the club, the 2024/25 campaign has been a disappointment – something underlined by the 3-2 loss in extra-time to rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey last night.
Ancelotti has reportedly told members of staff that he will leave the club despite a contract that would keep him in Spain for a further season.
Although Brazil has had some games under a foreign manager in their history, Ancelotti's appointment would be the first manager outside of the country to have the job on a long-term basis with the 65-year-old expected to get Brazil back to their very best.
One person who is unlikely to join Carlo in Brazil is his son Davide Ancelotti, who apparently set his sights on his own head coaching in the future.
