Recent reports claimed that Ancelotti has struck a verbal agreement to take over as Brazil’s new head coach this summer.

The deal would also see the former Napoli boss one of the highest-paid coaches in the world.

However, Los Blancos are looking to throw a spanner in the works as they are unwilling to let go of Ancelotti until before the Club World Cup.

La Selacao are ready to move on from the Italian gaffer if Madrid’s stance remains unchanged.

They want a new coach on the sidelines for the World Cup qualifying games in June.

Al Hilal head coach Jorge Jesus is also high on Brazil’s wishlist.

Los Blancos are keeping their faith in Ancelotti to lead the team in the expanded Club World Cup this year despite a tumultuous 2024/25 campaign.

The Spanish giants exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals and suffered a dismal defeat against arch-rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey finals last weekend.

Furthermore, they are trailing Barca in the La Liga table, putting Ancelotti’s job in jeopardy.

It has been widely speculated that Real will bring in a new head coach ahead of the next season, with Xabi Alonso the leading candidate to succeed Ancelotti.

Alonso is also said to be eager to return to his former club, while Leverkusen are trying to keep hold of him for one more season.

Los Blancos will be required to pay around €10 million to release the former midfielder from Leverkusen’s contract.
