Angers SCO are in the market for a centre-forward to bolster their attacking options in the winter transfer window. The promoted Ligue 1 side defeated Champions League-playing Stade Brestois 29 this Sunday to gain three vital points in their battle to fight off a Ligue 2 relegation. Alexandre Dujeux’s Scoïstes are currently 14th in the league. Angers are looking for a player to lead the line as only Montpellier, Le Havre and Saint-Etienne have scored fewer Ligue 1 goals than Angers’ 16.
Ouest-France reports that Angers have enquired to Lille regarding Mohamed Bayo (26). The Guinea international finds game time increasingly limited under the tutelage of Bruno Genesio as Jonathan David is the undisputed starter up front. The Lille head coach even dropped Bayo from the matchday squad due to his performances in training. The outlet adds that Bayo’s wages could prove a sticking point and Angers will also look to trim Dujeux’s squad.
Furthermore, Foot Mercato reports that Angers dream of bringing Steve Mounié (30) back into Ligue 1. The former Brest centre-forward left Eric Roy’s Pirates this summer upon the expiry of his contract to sign Bundesliga side Augsburg. The former Huddersfield Town striker plays a mostly peripheral role with Augsburg. Angers are said to target a loan move for the 30-year-old striker.
