Ronaldo Araujo faces an uncertain future at Barcelona following his erratic performance in the Champions League semi-final second leg against Inter Milan last night (h/t Diario AS).

After coming in as a substitute in the dying minutes, Araujo was at fault for Francesco Acerbi’s equaliser in injury time and Davide Frattesi’s winner in extra time.

The Catalan giants had the final berth within reach after Raphinha’s strike, but two costly errors from Araujo buried their European dreams.

The Uruguayan also received plenty of stick for his horrendous performance in last year’s quarter-finals against Paris Saint-Germain. His red card in the second leg led to their elimination.

The 26-year-old is in a precarious situation, with questions raised over his position at Barca.

Araujo has failed to live up to his potential ever since breaking into the first team due to his recurrent injury issues.

While it looked like he was slowly finding his feet with his impressive cameos this season, his disastrous outing at the San Siro was a major setback.

With a contract running until 2031, Barca could consider selling Araujo to generate funds to cope with their financial crisis this summer.

Barcelona have Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi in their squad, while Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah has been linked with a move to the Catalan capital on a free transfer.

Bayern Munich may look to sign Araujo this summer. They are looking to add reinforcements to their backline due to the uncertain futures of Kim Min-jae and Hiroki Ito.
