Arsenal are interested in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli with the forward considered a cheaper alternative to Benjamin Sesko or Alexander Isak.

Arsenal are focused on bringing in a number nine in the summer with the club’s title challenge having stuttered in the absence of a reliable goalscorer. Injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have left the Gunners without a recognised forward.

Osimhen has now emerged as a potential target. The Nigerian is on loan at Galatasaray, where he has scored 22 goals in 28 appearances across all competition. The Turkish champions are keen to keep hold of the player but his €75m (£62m) release clause appears unfeasible.

However, Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has claimed Arsenal view that price tag as good value, in comparison to the potential cost of signing either Sesko or Isak.

RB Leipzig striker Sesko has been a long-standing target for the North Londoners, but signed a new deal with Leipzig to remove a release clause last summer. Though the German outfit will consider bids, they’re likely to only entertain offers north of €80m (£66m).

Newcastle, meanwhile, are reluctant to lose Isak despite mounting interest from Premier League rivals. Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are all monitoring the Swedish striker, who has scored 22 goals in all competitions this season.

Should Newcastle fail to secure Champions League qualification, offers for Isak are expected. However, the Magpies will demand a British transfer record fee for the 25-year-old.
