Aston Villa are interested in bringing former Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth back to the Premier League.
That is according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has reported on X that Villa are in talks to sign Foyth from Spanish club Villarreal in the January transfer window.
With a potential deal for Loic Bade now off, the Villans are actively trying to do a deal for the 27-year-old Argentina international defender.
Foyth knows the Premier League inside out, and after being sold for £13 million by Tottenham (The Sun), the defender will feel that he has a point to prove in the top flight of English football.
The 27-year-old could not make a massive impact at Spurs. While he played well on some occasions, he was still very young during his time at the North London club.
Foyth was able to make just 16 appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham. The right-back scored one goal and kept three clean sheets in those games.
The right-back has been superb for Villarreal over the past few years and is at the top of his game at the age of 27.
Villa manager Unai Emery will be fully aware of how good Foyth is. After all, they worked together at Villarreal.
Foyth can play as a centre-back and also also operate in midfield. He would make the Villans a better team and would be a very good option for Emery at Villa, who could lose attacker Emiliano Buendia to Bayer Leverkusen in the January transfer window.
Villa are eighth in the Premier League table at the moment with 36 points from 22 matches, five points behind fourth-placed and defending champions Manchester City, who have played 23 games.
The Villans will take on West Ham United at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
