Atlético de Madrid were denied a return to winning way as Real Sociedad claimed a late 1-1 draw.

Julián Álvarez gave the visitors an early lead inside the opening 51 seconds by drilling the ball home from Antoine Griezmann’s clever backheel.

But Luka Sučić pulled La Real level just six minutes from time when Miekl Oyarzabal teed him up for a dipping 25-yard effort to beat Jan Oblak.

Diego Simeone’s side remain third but sit seven points adrift of leaders Barcelona and four behind local rivals Real Madrid while Sociedad drop one place to 15th.
