In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona are keeping a keen eye on Lille custodian Lucas Chevalier. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are hoping to land the French keeper in this summer transfer period.

Chevalier’s Impressive Form In French Football

Chevalier had an impressive campaign at the French club recently as he was responsible for producing a series of eye-catching performances for them in Ligue 1. The French goalie conceded 53 goals and kept 13 clean sheets in 48 matches for Lille last season across various competitions.

The 23-year-old has proven his worth as a top keeper in France. However, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his good form in La Liga.

Chevalier is under contract at the French club until the summer of 2027. Therefore, Barcelona would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about landing him this off-season.

Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Go For Chevalier?

Chevalier can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He is a solid handler of the ball as well and can use his quick reflexes to make some important stops at the back for his team.

The French sensation usually clears the danger when being chased down by the opposition attackers. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if the Catalan club manage to bring him on board in this summer transfer window.

We can expect Chevalier to add more quality to Hansi Flick’s backline in the long run. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp in the coming seasons. The French goalie could even help Barca challenge for some major honours over the next decade.

At 23, Chevalier’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Catalan giants to pursue before the start of the new campaign. However, Flick needs to give him some time to adjust to life at Barcelona before he can get the best out of the talented keeper.
