There is no doubt that the situation surrounding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor is leading to a lot of embarrassment for FC Barcelona. The Catalans are fully focused on ensuring this problem is solved in the coming few days, and these two players can return to availability for Hansi Flick as soon as possible.
With most of the news coming out of the Blaugrana club being concerned primarily with this issue, Barcelona have not been able to enjoy another great success they obtained at the start of this year, their return to the 1:1 status, which will once again allow the Catalan club a vastly greater degree of maneuvering room in the transfer market.
In fact, the Blaugrana club is already looking forward to selling some of its current players to bring in some much-needed reinforcements in January.
But this change in status will also have a long-term impact on the Catalan side as well, and according to SPORT, one of the aspects in which this change will manifest itself the most will be in Barcelona’s scouting and transfer activity in South America, one of the biggest sources of footballing talent in the world.
There is no doubt that the Blaugranes have already been quite alert to the talent emerging from this part of the world. Even now, they have a scout actively watching the Copinha in Sao Paulo, while another scout is set to travel to South America at the end of this month to closely watch the upcoming South American U-20 Championship.
In recent years, Barcelona have made two high-profile moves in this market. One of these was for the winger Lucas Román, who was signed in 2023 and is playing on loan at Cartagena this season. The other was Vitor Roque, whom Barcelona obtained for €35 million, and who is also playing on loan at Real Betis following a tough half-season at the Catalan club.
Furthermore, the Blaugranes were also among the first big sides to discover talents like Andrey Santos and Wesley, whom they were not able to sign because of their financial problems, but who have continued to grow.
Thus, the return to the 1:1 rule will allow them to snatch such talents at a younger age, and Barcelona are looking to repeat the formula used on Ronald Araújo by bringing them to Barcelona Atlètic at a young age to help them adapt and grow in Spain before making their way to the first team.
