Succeeding at a club like FC Barcelona is a tall ask for any player, and even more for aspiring youngsters. The level of competition at the club has always been high and that continues to be the case even today. As a result of such competition and the high demands at Barcelona, being just decent is simply not good enough.
Unfortunately for a certain 22-year-old La Masia talent, that nightmare seems to have become his reality already. Once hailed as the heir to throne left vacant by the legendary Lionel Messi, Ansu Fati always seemed to be destined for success at Barcelona.
However, due to constant injuries and inconsistency in his performances, the young forward no longer has the world at his feet as he did a few years ago. Instead, his progress continues to stagnate and he has already become a player whose exit from the club is often discussed.
Recently, he suffered yet another muscular injury that is set to keep him sidelined for around a month or so. However, according to AS, there is a certain belief within FC Barcelona that the player himself is to blame for all these injuries and the way his career has declined over the course of the last few years.
They believe that the player’s decision to not undergo surgery two years ago after a big injury and instead opting for conservative treatment was the wrong route for the player to take. Ultimately, without having undergone surgery, Ansu Fati continued to see himself get regularly injured, even when he was on loan at Premier League side Brighton.
Now, with this latest injury, his future has become as cloudy as ever. He no longer performs like he used to back when he was breaking all sorts of records and scoring goals for fun, and he seems to play with a clear lack of confidence as well. Ultimately, there has to come a point where even Barcelona themselves have to just let players go who can no longer perform at the highest level.
