FC Barcelona have been facing quite a dire economic situation in the last few years, which has left the Catalans unable to undertake their desired market operations.
In such a context, the Blaugranes have once again shown their commitment to the youth talent by allowing the most promising of their youngsters to fill in the needs of the team.
This has been quite clearly the case since the arrival of Hansi Flick, under whom players like Marc Casado have made a clear leap.
Thus, Barcelona have been able to minimize their expenditure on new signings. In fact, SPORT notes that for the last two seasons, the Blaugrana club stands 56th in the ranking of clubs throughout the world that have spent the most on new signings.
During this time, the Catalans spent €91.1 million on new signings, which is even lower than the sum spent by clubs like Como, Stuttgart, Fiorentina, or the Mexican side Cruz Azul.
Furthermore, during this time, the Blaugranes generated a sum of €137.3 million from sales, thus they have an overall positive balance of €46.2 million.
In the last winter transfer window, Barcelona once again kept a low profile and avoided spending a lot on new arrivals. Marcus Rashford was one of the players linked with a move, but they were unable to land him as they had to meet several conditions to get him on loan.
Meanwhile, they earned around €13 million in this window, as their former midfielder Nico Gonzalez finalized a move to Manchester City. In total, the club has generated €65 million from the sales of players who, in many cases, never even made their debut with the first team.
Furthermore, the futures of some of the main pillars of the Blaugrana team have also been guaranteed. Thus, with these savings and the return to the 1:1 status, the Catalans will find it easier to get their desired targets in the upcoming transfer windows.
