Joan Garcia has firmly emerged as Barcelona’s first major target in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Catalans have identified the Espanyol goalkeeper as an ideal market opportunity, with the player reportedly having a €25 million release clause embedded in his contract.

However, acquiring the services of Garcia won’t be as straightforward, especially with a series of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs interested in his services.

Barcelona’s tough competition for Joan Garcia

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are facing stiff competition in the race to sign Joan Garcia this summer.

Premier League sides Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth are among the clubs that have already made strong moves for the 24-year-old.

Arsenal have tracked Garcia since last year, but the challenge there would be competing with David Raya, who is firmly established as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice.

Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, are looking to sign two new goalkeepers and have Garcia on their radar.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, have made a “spectacular” offer backed by an ambitious project, making them a surprise but serious contender.

Beyond England, Bayer Leverkusen are keeping tabs on the Spain U-23 international, while Serie A champions Napoli have also shown significant interest. These are credible suitors that could provide serious alternatives if Barça hesitate.

Barcelona, however, remain confident. Garcia’s release clause gives them a clear route to signing him, and their sporting project – competing for major trophies and offering Champions League football – is still more attractive than the proposals from mid-tier European sides.

Despite his strong ties to Espanyol, the club expects him to depart this summer. For Barcelona, it’s now a matter of acting fast before someone else does.
