After slowing down a bit at the end of last year, Barcelona ace Robert Lewandowski has once again found his scoring boots in 2025. The Pole scored a brace in the Copa del Rey game against Barbastro and then scored again in the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid, giving his side the lead after converting a penalty in the first half.

However, he is already 36 years of age, and the Blaugranes understand that he does not have a lot of years left to play at the highest level. As a result, they are looking for another center-forward who can be the Pole’s long-term replacement in their squad.

For this purpose, they have already been linked with several players in the last few months. According to Fichajes, one such player that Barcelona have on their radar for this role is the Liverpool forward, Darwin Nunez.

Since his move to Liverpool, the €65m-rated Uruguayan striker has shown his characteristic attributes of high speed, power, and goal-scoring ability. However, his future at Liverpool is not really guaranteed, and the Merseyside club might be open to negotiating his sale if a suitable offer arrives.

Thus, signing him will involve a significant investment and Barcelona understand they will have to spend big to remain competitive in all the top competitions.

The Catalans particularly like Nunez’s ability to move both inside and outside of the opposition area and his versatility, and thus will have to make a decision about his signing in the coming few months.

Meanwhile, the Blaugranes have also been linked with other promising strikers, the most prominent of them being Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak, and Jonathan David.

Thus, it remains to be seen which one of these they will get in the coming years to complement Robert Lewandowski in the short term and then replace him in the long term.
