Former Barcelona star Andrés Iniesta has this week taken to social media, to send a message of the way of departing Real Madrid icon Luka Modrić.

This, of course, comes fresh off a weekend which will live long in the memory for the Croatian.

After it was announced late last week that Real Madrid had made the call not to offer him a new contract, Modrić took to the pitch at the Santiago Bernabéu for the very last time.

Messages of congratulations and well wishes, in turn, have since come pouring in for one of the greatest players of the modern football era.

And as alluded to above, joining the Modrić love in on Monday was a player whom the 39-year-old spent some of the best years of his career battling it out with in the middle of the park.

In a post on his official Instagram account, Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta unveiled a photo of he and Modrić on the pitch, accompanied by the caption:

“We had some beautiful matches… Good luck in the future, Modric!”
