According to Toni Juanmartí’s report in SPORT, it appears unlikely that Barcelona midfielder Gavi will make the starting line-up before the upcoming national team break, which takes place after Barcelona’s match against Real Sociedad on November 10.
Since the season began, Gavi has seen very limited playtime, with only 18 minutes across three matches—eight minutes against Sevilla, six against Bayern, and four minutes in El Clasico.
In all these games, he was introduced when the result was nearly decided, giving him little chance to make a real impact.
Now, however, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is preparing to gradually increase Gavi’s involvement, aiming to give him about 20-25 minutes per match to help him ease back in and build his confidence.
This plan, of course, could shift depending on how the matches unfold. Flick intends to ensure Gavi gets meaningful minutes without any rush, considering both his recovery and the depth Barcelona currently enjoys in midfield.

Barcelona’s midfield is currently loaded with talent, especially with the recent returns of Frenkie de Jong, Fermin Lopez, and Dani Olmo.
These players, along with the consistent presence of Marc Casado and Pedri, mean Flick has several options to choose from, making it a tough decision for him to fit everyone into the lineup.
While Gavi is a key talent, the manager and coaching staff are prioritising his long-term health, knowing he is still in recovery from a serious knee injury he suffered less than a year ago.
Given these factors, Barcelona are being cautious with Gavi’s reintegration, which is why he’s unlikely to start any match until after the next international break.
This careful approach is to ensure he regains full match fitness safely, helping to prevent any risk of re-injury. Fans may need to be patient, but this measured return is designed to ensure Gavi’s readiness for the crucial games ahead.
