Given the kind of competition that football offers today, FC Barcelona is always looking to be better prepared for it. To do that, however, the Catalan giants have lacked the adequate financial power needed in recent seasons. Thus, Barcelona has had to look for alternative means.

One such method to better equip the team was to rely on low-cost signings or free arrivals. In terms of the latter, Barcelona has had a fairly decent success rate when it comes to finding the right kind of additions. From Andreas Christensen to Inigo Martinez, some of those players have really proved their value to the team.

Over the course of recent weeks, however, a certain 31-year-old Arsenal midfielder was also being linked to Barcelona on the basis that his contract would be running out in the summer. That player was none other than Ghanian midfielder Thomas Partey, and his camp had reportedly offered him to Barça.

However, according to SPORT (h/t Football Espana), Barcelona is not interested in acquiring the services of the player. Despite the fact that his physical profile would be something that the Catalan giants currently do not possess in their midfield, La Blaugrana are more than happy with their current selection of players in that position.

Instead, the club is more concerned about player renewals, something that was noticeable in recent months. In particular, the renewals and continuity of players such as Marc Casado, Marc Bernal, and even Frenkie de Jong despite the uncertainties.

For Barcelona, their current selection of midfielders is one that they believe they can continue to compete with. Both Bernal and Casado are seen as integral players for the club’s future, and De Jong’s revitalized version has undoubtedly been beneficial to this team.

Thus, things remain complicated for Thomas Partey as his future at Arsenal remains uncertain. While there are reports suggesting that he could be offered a renewal at the London-based club, there are also sources that state that clubs like PSG and Juventus are also keeping an eye on him.
