For the last few days, FC Barcelona have been engaged in the operation for the sale of Vitor Roque to the Brazilian club Palmeiras. The presence of a large number of stakeholders and the schedule of transfer windows in Spain and Brazil has made it a particularly complicated affair.

Things seemed to be moving in the right direction before yesterday when there was news that the Blaugranes had not received an affirmative reply to their queries from La Liga on whether it was possible to bring back the striker from his loan at Real Betis when the transfer window was closed.

However, the Catalans did not give up and approached FIFA to get a ruling that would allow this operation to go through, under Article 5.2 of the FIFA regulations.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona already have the approval from FIFA for the transfer of Vitor Roque to the Brazilian club, and now, they only need to arrive at an agreement with Real Betis to terminate the striker’s loan contract.

However, time is of the essence, as the transfer market closes in Brazil on 28th February. Thus, the Blaugranes will have to reach an agreement with the Verdiblancos before Friday.

To convince the Seville side, the Catalans can either offer them financial compensation or can give them a larger share on a player on whom Barcelona have some rights, i.e., Ez Abde.

Once an agreement has been reached with Real Betis, Roque’s move to Palmeiras can be finalized. With this move, the Blaugrana club will get €25 million, and will also get to retain 20% rights on a player who is still only 20 years old.

Thus, the Catalans will ensure they do not make any losses on the Brazilian forward, while still retaining the chance to get profit from a future sale.
