Barcelona continue their squad planning for the future and hope to further extend their contract renewal spree in the coming weeks.
Indeed, after securing long-term deals for Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and Fermin Lopez, the club intends to secure more players to new contracts in the near future.
The imminent sale of Vitor Roque to Palmeires will help free up salary space to facilitate these extensions that the club has planned.
As such, SPORT reports that Barcelona plan to officially announce the renewals of Robert Lewandowski and Inigo Martinez in March. Their new one-year contracts are already agreed upon and only await confirmation.
Initially, both players’ renewals were expected to be triggered automatically after reaching a fixed number of appearances this season, but Barça have now formalised a new agreement with the pair ahead of schedule.

Lewandowski has already signed his new one-year contract, which includes an option for Barcelona to extend it by an additional year. The 36-year-old has shown consistent performances and is on track for his best season in a Blaugrana shirt.
Despite turning 37 next summer, Lewandowski feels physically strong and remains a key figure in Hansi Flick’s plans. His extension means that Barcelona will not pursue a top-tier striker in the summer, postponing the search for a long-term replacement until 2026.
Additionally, Lewandowski’s salary will be reduced next season, a condition agreed upon when he joined the club.
Meanwhile, Martinez has been one of the season’s standout performers. Initially, his future at Barça was uncertain last summer, but Flick placed his trust in him, and he took full advantage of injuries to other defenders to secure a permanent spot in the starting XI.
The veteran defender’s renewal was expected to be signed in late January itself but the lack of Fair Play space halted the process. Unlike Lewandowski, Martinez’s new contract will be for one season only, without further options.
