Barcelona president Joan Laporta appeared in front of the media earlier today for the first time since the registration saga involving Dani Olmo and Pau Victor began.

Having successfully managed to re-register the duo through a precautionary measure issued by the Higher Sports Council (CSD), the Barça chief gave a detailed account of everything that went down behind the scenes.

While the cases of Olmo and Victor may be resolved, Barcelona are now sweating over the future of key defender Ronald Araujo, who is said to be seeking an exit from the club in the ongoing window.

Laporta addresses Araujo situation

During his press conference, Laporta also touched upon the situation of Araujo, who is being targeted by Serie A giants Juventus.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has already made it clear that he wishes to retain the Uruguayan international, whom he sees as one of the best defenders in the game.

Now, Laporta echoed those sentiments stating that Barça appreciate Araujo a great deal as a player and a person, and intend to keep him.

“We want the players we have in the squad to continue. He has a valid contract, but he is talking to the sporting management. We will find a solution. We appreciate him a lot on a professional level, but above all on a personal level,” he said.

As such, the club chief expressed hope that some positive solution can be reached as far as Araujo’s future is concerned.

“There are some circumstances that I don’t want to detail, but there is room to find a solution that is to everyone’s satisfaction,” he added.

Araujo’s contract with Barcelona expires in the summer of 2026. As mentioned earlier Juventus are interested in his services. Whether the Catalans are successful in retaining him remains to be seen.
