Barcelona’s interest in Alexander Isak has been no secret, with the Swedish forward emerging as one of the most sought-after strikers in European football.
However, the Newcastle United star has now addressed speculation regarding his future, making it clear that, for the time being, he is not focused on the upcoming summer transfer window.
Isak has been in phenomenal form this season, establishing himself as one of the most lethal forwards in both the Premier League and across Europe.
Unsurprisingly, some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona, have taken an interest in securing his services.
Despite the growing speculation, Isak has played down the transfer rumours, stating that there have been no discussions regarding a potential move and that he remains focused on the ongoing season.
This statement came just before Newcastle’s EFL Cup final, reinforcing his commitment to the club at least until the current campaign concludes.

“As I’ve said, I’m not thinking about the summer yet. That will be a topic of conversation when the season is over. There are no talks yet,” the Swede said as reported by AS.
It must be noted that while Barcelona would ideally love to bring in a high-profile striker like Isak, financial hurdles make such a move extremely difficult.
The Catalan giants have identified him as their primary target to bolster the attacking department, but their economic constraints remain a major obstacle.
Given the club’s need to adhere to La Liga’s financial fair play regulations, a transfer of this magnitude would be highly complex.
Adding to the challenge is Newcastle’s firm stance on their prized asset. Isak remains under contract with the Premier League side until 2028, meaning Newcastle hold all the power in negotiations.
Reports indicate that they would only consider selling the Swedish striker if they receive an offer in the region of €120 million—an amount that is far beyond Barcelona’s current financial capabilities.
While Isak would be a dream signing for the Blaugrana, the reality of the situation makes a deal incredibly difficult.
