Barcelona have reportedly decided not to sign any new full-backs during this summer’s transfer window, according to Fichajes.

Instead of diving into the market, the club is choosing to place their trust in the current squad and young talents from La Masia.

With tight economic conditions forcing Barcelona to be highly selective in their transfer dealings, the club has prioritised internal solutions. Unless there are major departures in the attack, no new signings are expected across the pitch.

No wider reinforcement

In defence, the plan is already in place. On the right side, Jules Kounde and Hector Fort will be the main options.

Fort, who has come through the youth ranks, has already shown his potential, and although he has not hit his full potential, the fact that he can also fill in on the left if needed makes him a perfect option to have.

On the left flank, Alejandro Balde will remain the first-choice full-back, with Gerard Martin stepping in as backup.

Both are trusted by the coaching staff, and the management believes the squad already has enough quality and depth to compete without bringing in external reinforcements.
