Barcelona ‘put pressure’ on Real Betis over Vitor Roque | OneFootball

The brass at Barcelona have intensified negotiations with their counterparts at La Liga rivals Real Betis, over the departure of Vitor Roque.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have provided an insight into the latest developments surrounding the frontman’s future.

The name of youngster Roque has of course dominated the headlines across Spain over recent days.

This comes after confirmation was forthcoming that Palmeiras had ramped up efforts to bring the 19-year-old back to Brazil with immediate effect.

After La Liga first blocked the transfer owing to Roque’s loan status at Real Betis, FIFA have since given the green light to a deal.

The one stumbling block, however, remains the stance of Betis themselves.

As of yet, the Verdiblancos have not given their blessing to allowing Roque’s time with the club to be cut short.

Some form of compensation is understandably being demanded by those behind the scenes at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

And, on Wednesday, discussions regarding as much have been kicked back into gear by Barcelona. As much comes with the Blaugrana desperate to secure the €25 million fee being offered up by Palmeiras.

As per a report from MD:

‘The agreement could involve the forgiveness of outstanding payments, for Abde, for example, or a higher percentage of his transfer, the assumption of Vitor Roque ‘s full salary or some preferential option on young players from Palmeiras.’

Barca are now actively ‘putting pressure’ on Betis to accept, ahead of the close of the Brazilian transfer window on Friday.
