This, of course, comes ahead of the upcoming showdown between the clubs.

Barcelona are set to play host to Bayern on Wednesday night, as part of matchday 3 in the newly-formatted Champions League campaign.

The Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys is sold out for the clash, with a full house set to watch on for one of the most high-profile fixtures of the European calendar.

And, as alluded to above, with a view to as much, Barcelona have this evening released a statement.

In a post across the club’s website and social media platforms, the Blaugrana have requested that Bayern Munich supporters who do not possess valid tickets for the fixture do not turn up to Montjuïc:

‘For the Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Wednesday 23 October (9.00pm CEST), as in all matches classified as high risk, as occurred last season, the club will be adopting the necessary security measures to guarantee the safety of all members and home and visiting fans. It will also implement control measures on the sale of tickets, especially with regard to the sale of seats and the presence in the stadium of rival supporters outside of their designated area.

‘An appeal is therefore being made to all the fans of the visiting team who do not have a ticket, not to go to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, because they will not be able to purchase tickets anywhere around the ground. Only those Bayern supporters who have a ticket distributed by their club and for the area reserved for visiting fans will be able to attend the match.’
