La Liga giants Barcelona were temporarily left sweating over the wellbeing of a member of the club’s backline, during their morning training session on Wednesday.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Pau Cubarsí as the player in question.
Youngster Cubarsí for his part played a central role at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper earlier today, amid final preparations for Barcelona’s derby showdown with Espanyol on Thursday.
The Blaugrana will of course be afforded the opportunity to secure the La Liga title tomorrow evening, at the RCDE Stadium.
After overcoming a bout of recent illness, defender Cubarsí, in turn, has been tipped to feature from the off in the Derbi Barceloní.
It therefore came as a major source of concern for Hansi Flick and co, upon the 18-year-old going to ground in distress during training on Wednesday.
As per Sport:
‘When barely 15 minutes of training had passed, during a small-sided match, Cubarsí suffered a mishap with Robert Lewandowski. The centre-back was left lying on the pitch with several players worrying about his condition.’
Cubarsí, in the end, managed to return to his feet, after being tended to by the Barcelona medical staff.
Boss Hansi Flick, meanwhile, assured in his pre-match press conference this afternoon that:
“He’s fine. He hasn’t finished training yet, but he’ll be able to play tomorrow.”
