Barcelona star confirms Hansi Flick played a ‘very important’ role in his decision to stay | OneFootball

Barcelona star Raphinha has this weekend provided an insight into the role played by manager Hansi Flick in his decision to stay put with the club.

Wide-man Raphinha is for his part in the midst of nothing short of a spectacular campaign to date.

Looking rejuvenated in the all-action setup of the aforementioned Hansi Flick, the Brazilian has rattled off 38 direct goal contributions in 34 appearances.

After it at one point looked as though his Barcelona career may simply fizzle out, Raphinha, in turn, is now considered one of the first names on the team sheet in Catalunya’s capital.

And the significance of the role played by his new manager in as much has not been at all lost on the former Leeds United man himself.

Speaking during a press conference ahead of Barca’s La Liga meeting with Sevilla on Sunday, Raphinha admitted that Hansi Flick was a key figure in his decision to stay put at the Camp Nou last summer:

“When Flick’s arrival was made official, he called me and told me that I was one of the players he was counting on, without knowing me or having seen me train. This was very important in my decision to stay.”
