Barcelona star was the subject of €70m January interest from Man United | OneFootball

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona found himself the subject of intense transfer interest by way of the Premier League during the January window.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Fermín López as the player in question.

Youngster Fermín, for his part, is of course in the midst of another productive campaign to date.

Despite seeing his game time somewhat reduced owing to a combination of competition for places and fitness problems, the Spanish international has shone when afforded the chance.

All told, in just over 1,000 total minutes of action, Fermín has directly contributed to nine goals, continuing to prove himself a midfielder with game-changing capabilities.

And such exploits, it is understood, have not gone unnoticed in the Premier League.

In fact, as per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Manchester United and Unai Emery’s Aston Villa were willing to offer around 70 million euros for the midfielder, who would have doubled his salary at Barcelona.’

The 21-year-old, however, knocked back the interest without so much as a 2nd thought, eager to stay put and prove himself at Barcelona long-term.
