A fresh insight into the finer details of the contract renewal signed by Barcelona star Ronald Araújo has on Tuesday been provided.

Uruguayan international Araújo is of course fresh off committing his long-term future to Barcelona.

Following weeks of speculation linking the 25-year-old with a winter departure, Araújo was instead convinced to stay put by boss Hansi Flick.

This was followed by a swift contract renewal for the defender, who extended his terms from their prior expiration date in 2026, all the way through 2031.

And yet, as part of his new deal, Araújo also kept at least some semblance of control when it comes to his future.

As confirmed by a whole host of sources, a cut-price exit clause was included in the agreement between the stopper, and the Camp Nou brass.

The exact details of as much remain somewhat unclear, amid contrasting claims when it comes to value and more.

As alluded to above, though, on Tuesday, a new round of details have come to the fore.

The info comes courtesy of Barcelona insider Miguel Rico, who, speaking on ‘Tot Costa’ of Catalunya Ràdio (as cited by Diario Sport), confirmed that a buyout clause in the region €65 – 75 million for the coming summer was indeed included.

However, as much will only be accessible to certain clubs:

‘Rico points out that the figure would exclude Barça’s great rivals. In other words, teams such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, Chelsea or Manchester City could not sign the centre-back by paying that amount.’
