FC Barcelona are now set to play their final game of the season as they head to San Mames. With Athletic Club now awaiting them, La Blaugrana will be looking to end their season on a positive note. However, this game will definitely be a difficult encounter for Barcelona.

After all, Athletic Club are among the top four in La Liga right now and they are a side that loves to play infront of their own home supporters. However, with the La Liga title already secured, Flick will need to find a way to motivate his players to perform at their best level in this game.

Match Overview:

So far this season, La Blaugrana have looked almost invincible in certain parts of the campaign. Especially since the beginning of 2025, Barcelona have done everything possible to ensure that La Liga is theirs to win no matter what.

However, with the league title now secured, Hansi Flick’s side does not exactly have much to play for. Still, this is their opportunity to bounce back after a loss to Villarreal in their previous game, and Flick will surely want his team to end the season with a positive performance.

In terms of form, however, Barcelona have three wins and two losses from their last five games. While the recent defeat to Villarreal was not important in the grand scheme of things, the defeat to Inter Milan certainly was. However, when they needed to make sure La Liga did not slip away, Barcelona made it count by defeating the likes of Real Madrid, RCD Espanyol, and Real Valladolid.

They managed to score 13 goals in these last five games, but have conceded 11 goals as well. Definitely a rather worrying balance, but that is simply how Hansi Flick’s team likes to play with their risky gameplay.

Athletic Club, on the other hand, have won all three of their last three games. Before that, however, they suffered a defeat to Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League and were held to a draw against Real Sociedad.

In terms of the goals they scored, they managed to put past five goals against their opponents and conceded four goals in return. However, all four of those goals came against them when they played Manchester United.

Either way, this game promises to be a tough fixture for both teams. However, having already beat Athletic Club before this season, Barcelona certainly have the quality and the confidence to go into this game looking for a win to cap off their season.
