For the last two months, FC Barcelona have been focusing most of their energies on ensuring the long-term continuity of some of their most important players.
In this regard, they have successfully completed the renewals of players like Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and Pau Cubarsi. Meanwhile, there are still some renewals that the Blaugrana Sporting Department is looking to complete in the coming few days.
Two players whose contracts the Catalans will be looking to renew in the coming few weeks will be that of Robert Lewandowski and Inigo Martinez. According to SPORT, Barcelona want to officially announce the extensions of these two players in March, and this will bring to an end this round of renewals at the Blaugrana club.
Although not yet official, the new contracts of these two players are ready and fully agreed between the involved parties. The departure of Vitor Roque for Palmeiras would provide the Catalans with the required salary space to register these new contracts.
However, even if these renewals were not agreed, the two players were expected to stay for at least one more season at Barcelona, as their contracts allow an automatic one-year extension and both have been fixed starters for Hansi Flick this season.
Following these operations, the Sporting Department will have only a few other renewals to address. The most prominent of these will be that of Lamine Yamal, with whom the club already has an agreement for long renewal once he turns 18 years of age this summer.
Meanwhile, there is still no end in sight for negotiations for Frenkie de Jong’s renewal. Even though the two parties have warmed up recently, his new contract will only be discussed at the end of the season. If an agreement is not reached, Barcelona will put him on the market to avoid losing him for free.
Other than that, the Catalans have not yet made an offer for the renewals of Inaki Pena and Andreas Christensen, even though their contracts end in 2026, while Deco wants Wojciech Szczesny to continue for another year.
