It is no secret that Xabi Alonso has become the hot candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid next season.
As Los Blancos gear up for a big summer ahead, Alonso has emerged as the ideal man to lead the new project at Santiago Bernabeu.
Xabi Alonso’s potential exit could create a huge void at Bayer Leverkusen, especially given the way the Spaniard has led the team in the past couple of years.
Keeping that in mind, Leverkusen have already kickstarted their search for a new manager, with Arbeloa emerging as one of the potential candidates.
According to COPE, Leverkusen are indeed eyeing a move for Arbeloa as a potential replacement for Xabi Alonso.
Formerly a right-back at Real Madrid, Arbeloa is currently serving as the head coach of Real Madrid’s U19 setup.

With Raul set to leave RM Castilla at the end of the season, Arbeloa is poised for a promotion, which will see him become the head coach of the reserve side.
However, it appears Leverkusen are prepared to offer Arbeloa a big breakthrough into professional coaching by signing him as a Alonso replacement.
Other than Arbeloa, Leverkusen have also shown interest in acquiring the services of former Real Madrid playmaker Nico Paz.
The Argentine is currently plying his trade for Como, but Real Madrid can buy the player back for a fee of just €8 million.
Should Real Madrid re-sign Nico Paz this coming summer, Leverkusen might want to approach Los Blancos over a loan deal for the youngster.
Given the recent relationship between Leverkusen and Real Madrid, it won’t be surprising to see the two clubs being involved in deals other than Xabi Alonso this coming summer.
