FC Bayern officially welcomed its 400,000th member on the Allianz Arena pitch ahead of Saturday’s game against Bochum. President Herbert Hainer honoured Michael Spirkl together with his vice-presidents Dieter Mayer and Walter Mennekes. As the milestone member was presented with his special jersey, membership card and the personalised scarf that everyone receives when they join the club, youngsters from the new FC Bayern TEENS CLUB formed the backdrop by holding up balloons with the number 400,000.
Hainer warmly welcomed Spirkl during a talk with stadium announcer Stephan Lehmann: “We’re delighted that you are now part of the FC Bayern family. Last year, we had an unprecedented increase in membership - 400,000 members means 400,000 good reasons for us to believe that we are on the right track as FC Bayern. We will continue to do everything we can to bring joy to all of you here in the stadium.”
The official welcome of the 400,000th member was integrated in the club’s tribute matchday, on which the club traditionally thanks its most loyal members. Before the match against Bochum, all those who have been with the club for 50, 60 and 70 years this year and all those who celebrated 35 years of membership in 2024 were honoured. “These are impressive figures,” said Hainer. “1,111 members were honoured for 35 years of loyalty to the club, 65 people for 50 years, 77 for 60 years and three for 70 years. We are delighted. FC Bayern is a big family that stands together.”
The new TEENS CLUB, in which FC Bayern offers members between the ages of 14 and 17 formats specifically tailored to their interests, is an important addition to this family. “The TEENS CLUB is all about active participation, with behind-the-scenes visits, workshops and various dialogue options,” explained Hainer. “Today, for example, there's a TEENS CLUB event with a tour of the stadium and museum and a visit to the match. We develop cool formats together. That goes down very well.” Just recently, the president attended a behind-the-scenes event for young people with FC Bayern Women at the Campus. “You can feel the enthusiasm and passion of the young people for the club.”
